28Association of Arab Universities Participates in the Arab Region Research Cooperation ForumAssociation of Arab UniversitiesAmman %u2013 October 26%u201327, 2025Professor Anas Ratib Alsoud, Executive Director of the Association of Arab Universities (AArU), participated in the Arab Region Research Cooperation Forum, held in Amman, Jordan, with wide participation from representatives of Arab national research councils,funding agencies, and regional and international organizations concerned with research and innovation.The forum was organized by the Federation of Arab Scientific Research Councils and the Arab Council for the Social Sciences, and hosted by the Higher Council for Science and Technology in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, with the participation of the International Development Research Centre (IDRC) of Canada. The discussions focused on key themes related to enhancing Arab research collaboration, funding applied research, science diplomacy, conducting research in times of crisis, and advancing open science.In his opening remarks, Professor Alsoud emphasized the commitment of the Association of Arab Universities, under the leadership of His Excellency Professor Amr Ezzat Salama, Secretary-General of AArU, to supporting applied scientific research and strengthening Arab integration in this vital field. He highlighted the strategic partnership between AArU and the Federation of Arab Scientific Research Councils, noting that the Association seeks through its initiatives to build effective regional partnerships that link Arab universities with research centers and industry, and to translate research outcomes into practical solutions contributing to sustainable development.
