Association of Arab Universities 23He emphasized that achieving sustainable development requires linking research with local community priorities, ensuring equity and inclusion in science policy, and fostering interdisciplinary collaboration to address pressing challenges such as climate change, rapid urbanization, and resource scarcity.Prof. Salama also showcased Egypt%u2019s national experience in research for sustainable communities, presenting successful models such as the %u201cHaya Karima%u201d (Decent Life) Initiative-a ffiagship program for rural development that integrates research, innovation, and social empowerment.The two-day meeting gathered experts and policymakers from Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, and other countries to discuss key issues including inclusive open science, artificial intelligence for sustainability, equality and diversity in research, and responsible research assessment.In his remarks, Prof. Salama reaflrmed the commitment of the Association of Arab Universities to promoting scientific collaboration, enhancing research partnerships, and empowering universities as engines of innovation and sustainable development throughout the Arab world.
