He further emphasized that in the era of the Fourth and Fifth Industrial Revolutions, innovation is essential for sustainable development. As an example, the United Arab Emirates has significantly fostered an innovation-driven environment, ranking among the top 32 countries in the Global Innovation Index (GII) for 2024. Likewise, Oman has made notable progress, advancing 10 places in the GII 2023 and achieving remarkable success in patent filings, knowledge production, and research dissemination.AArU%u2019s Role in Supporting Arab Higher Education and ResearchProf. Salama reaffirmed that the Association of Arab Universities is one of the most prominent institutions of joint Arab action, representing over 450 Arab universities. As a platform for higher education institutions and stakeholders in the Arab region, AArU is dedicated to supporting scientific research and innovation as outlined in its 2019-2030 strategic plan, with a focus on aligning with the latest advancements in artificial intelligence and the Fourth Industrial Revolution.He expressed his deep appreciation for the efforts of the Omani Ministry of Higher Education, Research, and Innovation, led by H.E. Prof. Rahma bint Ibrahim Al Mahrouqi, and to Sohar University, represented by its President, H.E. Prof. Hamdan bin Suleiman Al Fazari. He also acknowledged the Association of Arab Scientific Research Councils, represented by its Secretary-General, H.E. Prof. Abdelmajid Benamara, for co-organizing the symposium.
