Gulf News: Al Khaleejiya leads locally and ranks 53rd regionally in the Arab World's top ranking of universities.

On Monday, October 31, 2022, an introductory workshop on the "Arab University Ranking - Criteria and Indicators" project was held for presidents of Arab universities and their representatives. The workshop was chaired by His Excellency Prof. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director General of the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO), and His Excellency Prof. Dr. Amr Ezzat Salama, Secretary General of the Association of Arab Universities. The workshop was sponsored by the League of Arab States, the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO), and the Association of Arab Universities. The workshop aimed to launch the Arab University Ranking, which will " empower higher education outcomes to lead Arab development." It also aimed to define the criteria and indicators included in the Arab University Ranking, and to review the Arab University Ranking project platform. The ranking is based on accuracy and objectivity through several indicators and criteria that evaluate the university's comprehensive missions, including "the quality of education and teaching, scientific research, innovation, international and local cooperation, and community service."

The workshop was attended by 112 presidents of Arab universities and their representatives. Many important inquiries were raised and answered by the specialized technicians, members of the steering committee, which were well received by all attendees. It is worth noting that  for a university to be included in the classification  , it must be an educational and research university. Dr. Amr Ezzat added that the classification has four main performance indicators (  KPIs)  to evaluate the Arab classification of universities, each of which has 9 sub-performance indicators, which are: A-  Teaching and learning (30%),  B-  Scientific research (30%), C- Creativity, entrepreneurship and innovation ( 20  %), D-  International and local  cooperation  and community service  ( 20 %).

The workshop announced  the project's launch date for member universities in the first week of  December  2022.  The deadline for submitting university applications will be the first week of March 2023, and the results of the Arab University Rankings evaluation will be announced the first week of June 2023.
