The Arab University Ranking Council, affiliated with the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States, the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO), and the Association of Arab Universities, is pleased to introduce the Arab University Ranking platform. This comprehensive ranking system is based on four main criteria: teaching and learning, scientific research, creativity, leadership and innovation, and international and local cooperation and community service. Each criterion is evaluated through nine carefully selected indicators with specific weightings to ensure objectivity and relevance. The ranking serves as a motivational framework for academic institutions, encouraging continuous improvement and excellence in education and research while emphasizing the transformation of universities into third- and fourth-generation institutions. To support this transition, two open science indicators have been introduced, focusing on strengthening international collaboration and engaging end-users to transform research outputs into impactful innovations that benefit society. This approach aims to attract distinguished faculty members and high-achieving students from both local and international communities. The Arab University Ranking Council extends its sincere appreciation to all universities that participated in the 2023 Arab University Rankings.
